The Learning Gourmet was developed by three family members, each of us busy moms and good friends who share a passion for great food, working with our children and enhancing the family experience.  Since becoming mothers and starting our own families, we have spent so much of our time in the kitchen having fun and teaching our own children, we felt it was only natural to share our joy with other families…the result is The Learning Gourmet, an interactive cooking program designed for children in Grades K - 5.

TLG remains uniquely mission driven: to make a positive difference in the lives of children while giving back to the community.  Our message in one of raising well rounded children empowered to make healthy choices for strong bodies and strong minds.  As parents and instructors, we are in a key position to help promote the values and attitudes that will set children on a healthy course throughout their lives.

On a local basis, we are actively involved in our community by supporting the Winthrop Senior Center, which serves as our host facility and to which we donate a  portion of our revenue as well as free Cooking Workshops for Seniors, and the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce, through which we help sponsor neighborhood events.  We also provide opportunities for disadvantaged youth associated with community organizations such as Big Brothers-Big Sisters and Boys to attend cooking classes and workshops free of charge.

We also host Cooking Parties for kids' birthdays and other special events and special Workshops for kids and adults, as well.   And we've expanded our offerings to include gourmet cookies, a pre-fix catering menu, and unique gifts baskets and other specialty items which you can find in our online Store. 

Classes and events are held at the Winthrop Senior Center, conveniently located at 35 Harvard Street in Winthrop (behind White Hen Pantry).  We can also come to you!
